    The  Koto

is a vaulted zither strung with 13 strings, which is played in courtly Japanese music. The sound, which is exotic for us Europeans, is very popular, leading us into other worlds and inviting us to dream.

The 13 strings of the koto playing plane can be strung with nylon or steel strings.

-Nylon is softer in sound and has a penetrating bass.

-Steel strings have the typical metallic sound.

    The Tambura

is a plucked long-necked lute, which is played as a folk music instrument in Macedonia and the southern part of Bulgaria. The sound of the tambura sounds metallic and has this characteristic "buzz".

The tangent bridge with brass plate creates this special characteristic of the sound.
The strength of the "clanking" can be finely adjusted with the threads.

    The  Mo nochord

that originally comes from Greece and is nowadays widely used as an instrument rich in overtones. Especially in therapeutic use it is very popular and almost indispensable.

The complete lower playing surface is tensioned with 27 monochord strings.
These give the kotamo the necessary sonority.

"RESONANCE" / FEEDBACK about the KoTaMo ..

I have now been using the instrument built by Andreas Müller for several weeks in the hospice as well as in the clinic. It is a wonderful popular instrument. The Oriental tuning relaxes and combines wonderfully with my other instruments. The KoTaMo can be played very intuitively from the beginning. It is also fun to practice on this instrument. Such an important enrichment of my instruments. Thanks!

KoTaMo: I have it at my place. Play it just for me. Rarely for friends. Sit down, just play it following my intuition. Calmness comes into me, my breath becomes calmer, switch off. My sense of time is lost. I feel as if I am going into another "world" almost like a holiday far away!
